Casey J Dean Toner

Who am I?

 

I’m the founder of Iron Prairie Consult, and I built this business with one goal in mind: to help landowners, developers, and rural communities make smarter, more confident decisions when it comes to land, leases, and energy.


I was raised in the American West — the kind of place where a handshake still means something, and where land isn’t just a property line. It’s a livelihood. A legacy. A lifeline. That upbringing gave me a deep respect for the people who live and work on the land, and for the challenges they face when outside interests come knocking with lease offers, development plans, or promises of royalty payments.


I’ve always believed that landowners deserve to understand what they’re signing, what they’re giving up, and what they stand to gain. That’s why I pursued a degree in Energy Resource Management and Development with a concentration in Professional Land Management — because I wanted to be that bridge between landowners and industry. I wanted to make sure rural voices were respected, and that land decisions were made from a place of knowledge, not pressure.

Over the years, I’ve gained experience in everything from title research and mineral rights to surface use agreements, lease negotiation, and renewable energy permitting. I’ve sat at tables with landowners who were overwhelmed and unsure, and I’ve worked behind the scenes on development projects that needed someone who could navigate zoning, public meetings, and agency paperwork. I’ve seen what happens when people are left in the dark — and I’ve seen how powerful it is when someone finally gets clarity about what their land is really worth.


That’s what Iron Prairie Consulting is all about.


When you work with me, you’re not getting passed around a team of associates or handed off to a firm with too many clients to care. You get my full attention. I don’t talk in circles. I don’t overpromise. I help you understand your options, ask the right questions, and walk into lease agreements, permits, or disputes with your eyes wide open.


Whether you’re a landowner trying to figure out who actually owns your minerals, a rancher facing a surface use negotiation, or a small-scale developer needing help with a wind or solar permit — I’ll meet you where you are, explain things in plain language, and help you take the next step with confidence.

This isn’t just business to me. It’s personal. Because I’ve seen firsthand how good land decisions can change lives — and how bad ones can tear families and futures apart. That’s why I’m committed to helping people protect their land, understand their rights, and make smart, informed decisions for the long haul.
